Creative Coding (NYU/edX)
My notes from the NYUx Creative Coding course — P5.js, week by week.

These are my notes from the Creative Coding (NYUx DMEDX6063) course on edX — a graduate-level intro to creative programming in JavaScript with P5.js. Kept here as a reference. The full repo with code and homework solutions is on GitHub.
The course builds up creative programming one week at a time, from drawing basic shapes to animating harmonic motion. Each week below is a page of its own — pick up wherever you like.
Weeks
- Week 1 — Basics of 2D Drawing — the P5 sketch structure, primitives and basic shapes.
- Week 2 — Variables and Conditionals — data types, scope, operators and logic.
- Week 3 — Loops and Repetition — while and for loops, nested loops, moire patterns, beginShape/endShape.
- Week 4 — Color — RGB and HSB, color wheels, harmonies, randomness and interpolation.
- Week 5 — Functions and Interactions — modularity, reusability, return values and built-in functions.
- Week 6 — Transformations — translate, rotate, scale, and transformation order.
- Week 7 — Harmonic Motion and Animation — oscillation, sine and cosine, and Lissajous curves.
- Week 8 — Arrays and Objects — arrays, object literals and classes, particle systems.
- Week 9 — Document Object Model (DOM) — creating and positioning HTML elements, synchronous vs asynchronous code, events and callbacks.
- Week 10 — Generative Text and Typography — libraries, RiTa.js text analysis and generation, textWidth, preload and loadStrings.
- Week 11 — Data Visualization and APIs — CSV, TSV, JSON and XML, loadTable and loadJSON, stages of visualizing data, d3.js.
- Week 12 — Image — loading images, tint and filter, copy and pixels, sprites and image sequences.
- Week 13 — Video — video formats, data and cues, video in the canvas, webcam.
