There is always new things to learn and new ways to learn them.
Greetings!
Just here, writing after a while… Winter is here to chill with us for a while. So keep your coffee close and favorite coffee mug closer. I’ve always had a story to tell, but this time I have something to show.
What is it, you ask!? Its all the drawings I made for this years inktober. If you don’t know about it, click on inktober and you can read about it. In short, you make 31 drawings for 31 straight days in the month of October. This concept and the Idea is incredible, more on it later. And yes, its tougher than it seems… I made 30 out of 31! Its better than last time, I did 10 in 2018. I’ll try to make more next time. I stuck to the official prompts, but I made them all on Autodesk Sketchbook on my iPad, its free for students by the way. So no ink, may I should say pixeltober instead (goes above, changes title). Hmm.

Now, I am sure and 9-3/4th of you reading this are wondering if you should try doing it next time. You should. Let me tell how it was for me and let that make a case. I returned after a disappointing run from last year, deciding to stick to the official prompt list. Last years main problem was that I could not think of ideas for all the prompts. This year I was determined to get my creative muscles flexing since I was bored by doing “already solved in the 1980s” assignments for my courses.
On day one, I decided to do it all digitally which I regretted immediately because I had not used any digital platform to make drawings before, except for Microsoft paint. I got the sketchbook for free from the appstore, it had good reviews. Now I start goofing around with the app and start drawing first prompt. Every day for the rest of the month was me discovering and learning something new about the app. At about a week, I got comfortable using the app.
It was still difficult to come up with a new idea based on the prompt everyday but it was boosting the creative side of me and the silly side of me. At about 15 days, I had missed one day but the target was to do better than last year, which I had done. And using the app was getting easier. By the end of the month, I was proficient in sketchbook, and had done 30 drawings. And developed skills in a new platform.

See all 30 in the Inktober 2019 gallery.
I also made a sketch for N7 Day this year. I am huge Mass Effect fan, I had to do it on behalf of my crew of the Normandy SR2, I had to wish the entire mass effect universe. I’m still psyched about the original trilogy… Belated Happy N7 Day to all.

And improved one of the sketched from Inktober I wasn’t really happy with. That should be here below.

I can’t wait to use what I learned from doing this drawing marathon to develop and learn other skills. I have been wanting to learn python for while now, I will do a coding marathon where I code for sometime every day for 30 days to learn python next and something after that. There are always new things to learn and new ways to learn them. Let’s keep an eye out for it.
cheers!
